You Have What You Have At The Time – So Enjoy it!

You Have What You
Have At The Time – So Enjoy it!

My week,
my life seems totally disrupted – at least from today’s perspective.  We have company staying with us; I’m
delighted to have them and yet it really is wrecking the order of my life.

I like
disruption, but I like it better when I choose who to be disrupted.  Funny, how we can both want to have friends
around and yet always want our quiet life.

Perhaps a
lot of things in life are like this:  I
want this but on the other hand maybe I don’t.
Certainly in relationships that happens a lot.  I frequently hear single women talking about
wanting a man; I frequently hear married women talking about wanting out of the
marriage – it’s not satisfying, too much trouble.  Now, here’s the clincher – sometimes it’s the
same woman, several years apart.  First
she was single wanting to be married; then once married, feeling she lost a
part of herself through marriage, or her husband isn’t meeting her needs.

I’m
reminded of something that arose in my study about single women that I reported
in With or Without A Man: Single
Women Taking Control of Their Lives.
Friends told single women that you only meet a
man when you stop looking so hard.
Friends told single women you need to get out their and keep looking.  You see the contradiction, eh?

The fact
is – you have what you have at the time you have it, for however long you have
it.  Therefore, enjoy whatever that is.

So, I’m
going to go back to my disrupted life and enjoy our friends because as soon as
they go, I’ll wish they could stay longer.
