A Great Stocking Stuffer and How Hard It Is To Be Direct
I just got a call from a dear friend who said I should promote my Gender Relationship Dictionary as a Stocking Stuffer. I thought that was a great idea. A loving holiday gift for someone you care about -- a lover or a best friend who could benefit from learning the specific words that men and women use differently. It'd be a loving gift to help yourself and others enhance their relationships.
I suppose this sounds shamelessly self-promoting; and in fact, it is. But, it also raises an issue that affects so many women: asking for what you want, and asking for it directly, not beating around the bush. In fact, that's in the dictionary, too -- how women are indirect in asking for what they want.
So, thanks to my friend who made the suggestion, and here's my direct request: Think about buying the gender relationship dictionary for those special people in your life.
Now, what would you like to be direct about? It does feel weird at first, but it then feels pretty good that you have finally said what you really want the others to hear.
