A Week of Memories and Honorings

52 years ago today, is called “The Day the Music Died.”  That’s when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, J.P. "Big Bopper" Richardson and the pilot, Roger Peterson died in a plane crash.  It was the end of Buddy Holly.  It was the beginning or the middle of adolescence for many of us baby boomers.  I was 15.  I remember where I was when I heard about it, but what I remember even more is that the piano sheet music “Three Stars“ came out within days, it seemed, maybe a month.  I just recall I playing and singing “Look up in the sky, up above the stars,” and being amazed to have the music so quickly.

It was a time before we talked about relationships and communication.  When we never heard about gender communication problems.  When we  dreamed of being married and never even considered we may remain single.  Our world evolved around our family and friends.  Probably few of us had ever even been on a plane.

And, then, two days later, is a day to celebrate Nutella.  Would you believe Feb 5 is World Nutella Day.  World  I didn’t even know Nutella was around the world.

But, A week from today is a day most people will want to honor.  Hershey Chocolate was founded on Feb 9, 1894.  And, what a funny coincidence (maybe?), it’s also Toothache Day.  I am not making this up!
